Du liest nicht (aufmerksam genug) im Handbuch nach.
http://php.net/manual/en/function.mysql-query.php: “mysql_query() sends a unique query (multiple queries are not supported) […]”
Btw., den Hinweis, der ganz oben auf der Seite steht, solltest du auch berücksichtigen.
